Miracle drug! 7 years beyond

Good afternoon fellow travellers, 7 years now since I made the jump from a 10 year Buprenorphine maintenance program. What a transformation - Bupe gave me 10 years to re-evalute, renew and essentially rebuild myself whilst my drug addictions were put on hold. From the age of 14 I was dabbling with y...

Re: Who's doing well post-Suboxone

Oh so there's a correlation between opiate abuse and bipolar disorder? That's interesting because I was diagnosed when I was younger but shunned traditional treatment due to it making me feel perpetually mediocre. Having abused drugs from a very young age, I had wondered if the ups and downs were re...

Re: Who's doing well post-Suboxone

3 years off here. Have been doing really well. Still finding gradual improvements to my baseline mood with time. No longer counting the days/months/years since, so no longer focused on things returning to normal; I guess that means I am normal, if there was ever such a thing. :) All of my interests ...

Reading this I can't help but comment on how useful Subdoc's advice is here. To answer some of your questions. In my personal experience, I found I was able to do productive things much earlier than I thought I would. Subdoc's comments remind me of the dread I felt returning to work, with no motivat...

Re: bup PAWS and leg discomfort/pain

Aching legs was always a signature symptom of Opiate withdrawal for me. I too experienced a drawn out leg ache as part of the post acute period. Mostly in the afternoons and evenings. I just made sure I was getting plenty of water and healthy salts, and keeping active like yourself. Hard to say what...

Re: Two Years off after 10 years on..

Thanks again for your replies. It is possible what you are saying. It doesn't ring true for my situation, from my perspective - and without going into my entire life story, from my experience either. I guess that will remain to be seen in the future if the condition returns. There was definitely a g...

Re: Two Years off after 10 years on..

Hi Suboxdoc, Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your level of experience here and I also understand the message you are trying to portray, and why it's an important message of optimism. I also sided with an optimistic mindset when tackling my own situation, taking 1 month off work in line with simi...

Two Years off after 10 years on..

Hello, I was on Suboxone for 10 long years. I am now 2 years beyond the day I stopped, and I write now to inform those who are in a similar situation so they may utilise my experience. It took about 20 months for the residual effects of what is being referred to as PAWS to subside. I write now becau...
