Re: 6 Years, 4 months, 3 days since my last dose of suboxone

bronzebeta- Like Hawker, your posts were a great source of inspiration and information for me when I was tapering. In one month I will be 2 years off Sub. Never thought that I would get off it with my super slow taper but it turned out to be easier than I ever imagined. I don't come here often eithe...

Re: 6 years off.... i think

Hawker you were the one that helped me chill out years ago when I wanted to get off sub too soon. You encouraged me to take it slow. You made me ask myself why was I rushing. Anyway I stayed on 8mg for a few more years and then slowly tapered (like 2 years to get from 8mg to approx .007mg. I had lit...

Re: Roxi to Subs

skinsboy77, I can identify with a lot of your thinking. I switched to sub from opiates and stayed on sub for around 6 years. I have been off sub after a long painless taper now for about 16 months. I used to have the same worry- that I needed to have an opiate to function. I have now realize that to...

Re: Think about what's right for YOU

I agree, great post! As someone who is proof suboxone works (over 6 years since a drink, longer for pills and 16 months off sub now), It breaks my heart to hear people especially in various support groups just writing sub off as "trading one thing for another" etc.. I sometimes wonder how many hopel...

Glen bee, I am most interested in your taper comments! I've read many of your other posts and they are quite helpful!! I hope you will consider posting a summary of your path to bup, time on it, decision to stop and then specific details of your taper. Looks like you've been off bup ~1.5yrs? I feel...

Re: 2 mg - Lowest Available. Not A Medically Sound Dose!

I wish they made a taper kit or something like that but I was able to use a razor blade, magnifying glasses and patience to cut 2 mg films down to ~.007mg pieces at the end of my taper which I would even then cut in half to dose 2x per day. I did a very gradual taper this way over about 20 months. I...

Re: Excessive sweating and anger after 5 months

I just wanted to add that yeah, opiates always made me sweat and sub did too. Some people get the sweating much worse than others. It was all worth it though. I stayed at 8mg for 4 years and tapered slowly for almost 2 years after that. The sweating got better and better as I tapered and now I don't...

Re: Starting today, help please, need advice by tonite if po

I really appreciate all the help and support. So far, it's all been subutex - dr wrote a one week prescription yesterday. She wanted me to do 6-4-6, I cannot seem to find it in me to take that much. Today I started with 4mg and have taken another 1 & then 2 so far today and will do 4 before bed. Na...

Re: Starting today, help please, need advice by tonite if po

I hope it goes well for you. One thing I've seen Dr Junig (username 'suboxdoc'- runs this forum/awesome guy) say is that if you do go into precipitated withdrawal to just continue with suboxone as opposed to taking oxy. Of course if you wait long enough to take the sub PW should not happen. Subox wa...

Re: How Do You Handle Steppers?

I'm seeing a lot of personal stories and expierence but not a lot of answers or suggestions for you. A lot of I, I, I. Consider debating them with facts. They can come at you with this or that but ask them, "do you know and can you tell me what the 12 month success rate for avoiding relapse is for ...

Re: What is the truth anymore?

Naloxone does not cause PW. It is the buprenorphine which has a higher binding affinity to MU receptors and will kick other opiates off of them. Buprenorphine has less of an opioid effect than other opiates including methadone which is why it's necessary to wait until withdrawal. Imagine methadone h...

Re: How Do You Handle Steppers?

I went to 12 Step (AA) meetings every day for the first 3 months after stopping alcohol (i had been on sub and off pills for some time already). Almost every day until about 6 months in. I got a lot out of it that still helps me stay sober. I met someone the day of my first meeting who, when I menti...

Glen, Am I reading this right? You are now completely off Suboxone? Either I had a memory lapse or just plain never read your taper journey so this is some very good news to hear. Jog my memory and tell us how the jump went and how long the symptoms lasted. And you've been off since, when? rule Hi ...

Re: Day 2 off of Suboxone

Instead of waiting around on the couch, exercise! You may not want to but it will get some natural endorphins going and actually make you feel good. Best advice I got from this forum. I was on sub a total of 6 years & tapered off very slowly - exercise was huge for me & I really never felt bad at al...

Re: Need your opinion! Low dose subs while doing surgery!

I had 3 surgeries while I was on sub. I was tapering so my doses were approx 1.5mg, .75mg and <.5mg respectively. I never stopped or lowered my dose for the surgeries. It was kind of a crapshoot. I told everyone about the sub in all cases, printed out Dr. Junigs reccomended papers etc.. but it reall...

I bet they don't want to fill bupe + benzos. There is a lot of info out there about how this combo can cause respiratory depression. Of course that won't happen if one has a tolerence to both meds.
