Re: Where in the World is Doctor Jeff Junig?

This is a great discussion! Methamphetamine use among people with Opioid Use Disorder is rampant here in Colorado. In fact, some of my patients don't use one without the other. One of the most frequent excuses for meth use is that the methadone or buprenorphine is causing enough sedation that they h...

Re: Long term difference between Suboxone and abstinence?

The other factor I feel is important is that Bupe blocks the euphoria one gets from other opiates. If I want to get high I would have to stop taking my bupe and start to go into withdrawl before I felt much of anything from a full agonist... so it gives me time to think about what I'm doing. I can'...

TeeJay, I should know this because you've been on this forum for many years, off and on- where are you writing from? I don't think we have Buvidal in the US.
TeeJay is in Australia, Dr. Junig.

Ashlee, I am so thrilled for you!! Please keep us informed about how you and baby are doing! It is normal to be nervous, like Jenn said. Just remember that anytime you can start breathing deeply and slowly, you will be helping to bring yourself out of that anxious state to where your rational thinki...

I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear that you lost your daughter, Queenie. I think I remember that you live upstairs or downstairs from one of your children. Was this the daughter who died? There is no way for me to understand what you're going through, but I want you to know that you will be in ...

Re: I am off Subutex with hardly any withdrawals!!

Douglas, I owe you a post. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to answer you. I don't have a detailed taper system for what your situation is. In fact, I don't recommend what you are proposing. The scientific evidence shows over and over that tapering after only a couple of weeks of using buprenorphine ...

Re: An Anesthesiologist's Perspective

Wow! Fascinating discussion! It seems that a simple shift in perspective (plus all of the information/knowledge required to be a board certified anesthesiologist) is all that is required to successfully treat the pain of a buprenorphine patient. What strikes me is that the addition of more subtherap...

Thank YOU, Dr. J., for doing everything you do to keep our site functional and convenient!

I know very little about what it takes to do so, but I know that it takes near constant vigilance and lots of money. Don't think that we don't appreciate it just because we don't often show our gratitude.

Are there any other buprenorphine doctors in your area, Jess?

It sucks that your doctor is going to stop offering outpatient services!

Well, not exactly a new doctor. I have treated opioid dependent patients with buprenorphine since 1999 in Baltimore and continuing in Oklahoma. I recently added an office in the Houston area at: Premier Health & Wellness 1733 Woodstead Court Suite 101 The Woodlands, TX 77380 832-653-9888 https://pr...

Re: Just for cravings?

Hi Mshaff2 and welcome to the forum! Opioid Use Disorder tends to be insidiously persistent and progressive. Buprenorphine is useful in putting OUD into remission. It shuts up the part of the brain that drives us to use opioids. People tend to think that because they're not experiencing cravings the...

Re: Need Advise regarding Precipitated Withdrawls

Doc, I have heard of so many cases of precipitated withdrawal when heroin users try to switch to buprenorphine. What is it in the heroin that makes it stay in peoples' systems for so long? I know, for example, that fentanyl is fat soluble. If fentanyl is in the heroin, could that make it hang around...

Re: Posting videos from "that" time period...

Your kids are going to choose to remember the times when you were available and stable and kind. Plus they were a lot younger when you were using and won't have as many memories from when they were little. That's not to say that they don't have any bad memories of you, but as long as you're being a ...
