It's interesting the nausea starts after a few hours, then goes away after you have your Sub. Are there any other symptoms that come with the nausea? Has nausea been a common symptom of withdrawal for you in the past? (Some people don't experience this symptom as much). Sub withdrawal I've always fo...

If you think your dose is too high, it probably is. IMO it's normal, even preferred for inductees to feel a bit of an opioid "buzz" for a short time (a few days) after they go on Suboxone. It's even aids to break the psychological desire to abuse other opioids and have a chance to settle into a norm...

Good to hear from ya man. It has been a lil while. Wasn't sure which way you went after our last chat. Good to hear you're kickin ass. It's great you're managing on 2mg. You're doing better than me! I can't get below 8mg before I start withdrawing. I got a weird body like that. It's gunna make taper...

Nooo Rule ... only change it over if you find you're experiencing issues with metabolism. Most people don't experience these problems. If Effexor is working as an anti-depressant and you're not having metabolism issues, then stick with it. The only thing that may happen is that as you taper off bupr...

Heya. The problem has eased a bit lately so I'm not going to change my dosing schedule at this stage. Interesting thing - I started smoking again shortly before the problem started ... and it eased a bit when I quit smoking... so maybe smoking contributes a bit as well? I'm apprehensive about dosing...

Dr. J's thoughts on my metabolism issues

Given I've brought this up here a lot, and some other people have said they have similar issues, I thought I'd share Dr. J's reply when I asked him about it. Essentially he suggested increasing dosing frequency to every 6 hours, using less 'activating' anti-depressants, and using Butrans to assist w...

Try to clock up 24 hours next time. While you may have been in mild withdrawal, you must still have had enough heroin floating around your body for the Sub to precipitate some withdrawal... and that may have been of a similar intensity to the withdrawal you were experiencing before you took it. Prec...

Hey Glen, Given I get 5 x take-aways a week now, I go in to get dispensed twice a week. They give me my evening-dose as a take away no matter how many times I go in. It would be manageable to taper, as once I start splitting doses to 3+ times a day they would just give me one dose in the pharmacy, a...

I think that once a person falls in love with opioids, whether it's codeine or heroin, they're pretty much destined to go down the road of addiction til they hit a point of severity where they can take no more. So if they're willing to put opioids before all that's good in their life, they're destin...

Interesting article from Dr. J regarding tolerance

I found this question interesting, and may be worth a discussion. Is it worth treating people who have a low tolerance to opioids with buprenorphine? ie if a person is dependent on some of the relatively "weak" opioids, like codeine or hydrocodone, should they be treated with a drug that will inevit...

Body type and metabolism

Just outta curiosity, I'm interested in the possible relationship between our body types and our metabolism of Suboxone, or our metabolism in general. I'm the kinda person who has a very fast metabolism. I'm tall, I guess you would say thin. I find it incredibly hard to put on weight, and when I tra...

Like a previous poster mentioned, it sounds like your levels are too low in the morning. This is what happens to me when I take one dose a day in the morning, regardless of the dose I take. I could take 24mg of Sub and I'd make it through the 24 hours without this effect, but then I have to endure t...

In a rehab lecture they mentioned that there's a belief that people who become addicts, Esp those who settle for depressant drugs like opiates and tranquillisers, experience emotions that are more intense than others, or that they're more sensitive to emotions in general. That's why we're drawn to u...

Hmm that really doesn't sound good unless weight loss is a goal. Sounds like it's a dose too high for your needs. First of all try spitting out your dose after it dissolves. That way you won't have buprenorphine binding to the opioid receptors in your gut causing issues. It'll also reduce the amount...

Dr. J and Hatmaker recommend once a day dosing for those who don't have pain issues. People using Sub for pain management are allowed multiple dosing.

Yeah I'll agree with that. It's probably different between those two groups but also the same. I think that any recreational drug user / abuser has a degree of dissatisfaction with reality. A person who uses opioids for pain relief has a dissatisfaction with their state of body. Both ultimately wann...
