Re: Does being on sub make you "not clean"?

Ryan you might have better luck on the east coast. While our job market isn't as great as it was in recent years, it's still not difficult to get a job. Especially in Melbourne cos we are growing so much.

Re: Attn men with sex drive/ED issues.

Unfortunately I've experienced this side-effect from opioid use. I use the umbrella term of OPIOID use because in my experience, all opioids suppress libido to a certain degree. Personally I've found that the long-acting opioids have the biggest influence, largely because the periods of my life when...

Re: Nightmares and Dreamscapes

The Stand has the reputation as one of Steven King's greatest novels. I never read it, but I watched the 1994 movie. Apparently it's being made into a new miniseries by CBS. Last King novel I read was Dr. Sleep. I really liked how it touched a lot on addiction recovery, and goes into 12-step stuff a...

Re: Suboxone and sperm quality

I don't think there's significant issues with sperm given how many people I've known who've knocked up their partners while on maintenance or using. However there are issues with desire etc. FDA issued a warning re long-term opioid prescribing, incl buprenorphine, for serotonin syndrome, adrenal ins...

Re: Sublocade now that it's been out for awhile

Down here it's all about Buvidal. I did a 6 month Buvidal trial and it was really good. Couldn't say more positive things about depot buprenorphine. I can't think of any negative really. There were no visible bumps or injection side-effects. And the pain was pretty awesome if you ask me. Kinda felt ...

Re: I was prescribed Paxil for anxiety.

My mother's been on Paroxetine for years and says it's helped a lot with her anxiety. Only issue is she's tried to come off it a few times and struggled, gone back on it. Myself, I'm a 3.5 off Pristiq after getting through the gnarly 2 weeks of withdrawal. Since then it's been pretty difficult mood ...

Re: PLEASE HELP! Suboxone not working this time switching fr

Statistics have shown that people who abused pills fare much better in terms of remaining abstinent on Suboxone than people who abuse IV heroin. I personally attribute it to a psychological attraction to the ritual of IV use. Plus taking Suboxone sublingual is psychologically not dissimilar to poppi...

Re: I’m about to relapse

Hey Nicki. Sounds like you've adjusted to the 16mg of Suboxone and are no longer getting that noticeable feeling, and you're missing it. Suboxone isn't a 100% barrier to relapse. You gotta approach recovery with a degree of motivation as well. As Bluelight said, if you're like most people, you will ...

Re: There is no reason to be afraid! (I quit cold turkey)

Congratulations on your 2 years man! That's a huge milestone. Not many people make it to 2 years! The times I've tried abstinence I seem to have stumbled between 18 months and 2 years. In a few months I intend on having another go, and hearing your story is further inspiration. I'm interested in hea...

One .1 mg pill of clonidine is not going to have catastrophic effects on its own. The relapse and potential overdose is the problem. After all, how can one really differentiate the effect of clonidine unless you know how opioid naive a person has become before the relapse and what dose would cause ...

Re: NA as an Atheist ?

That's another thing I don't understand about 12-steps. There's a huge element of asceticism involved. ie abstaining from intimacy, sex and dating. In fact, they seem to encourage abstinence from a lot of activities that can actually be healthy for one's recovery. Where I'm from, they even tell peop...

Re: NA as an Atheist ?

Yeah I've seen this happen a LOT. I've seen a lot of people relapse as a result, and some die. And it's really frustrating because if there's a disastrous outcome, nobody in NA (particularly their sponsors) takes any responsibility for the outcome. It's just the "nature of the beast" of addiction. I...

I was put on Topirimate / Topamax once. Only took it for a week because it absolutely killed my appetite. I had to force feed myself to maintain weight. Went back to my PDoc and complained, and he took me off it. Turns out it's used as an appetite suppressant as well as anti-epilepsy / bipolar medic...

Re: Internal temperature messed up

One other weird side effect that a lot of us agree on, was a specific joint pain, phantom joint pain, and random joint pain that rotated. Especially, early on in treatment. I had bizarre wrist and elbow pain. Another guy had pain from a decade old surgery that hadn’t hurt in years. Stuff like that....
