UPDATE ON BRONCHOSCOPY GONE BAD...

Can I have anesthesia on buprenorphine or methadone? Will I get enough pain medication? Will I have recall during surgery?

UPDATE ON BRONCHOSCOPY GONE BAD...

Post by slipper » Tue Jan 03, 2012 8:02 am

First, I would like to wish everyone here on the forum a very Happy New Year and hope your Christmas went well!

My second trip to the hospital was like night and day. They had two anesth. and two doctors in the room (kinda scared me)lol, and I ask the lady what she was going to give me to put me out and she said "that Michael Jackson drug, honey...you won't know what hit ya" and was she ever right. The best news is there is no cancer after all my years of too much smoking. I am so grateful for that.

Now I HAVE TO QUIT SMOKING, PERIOD., if I want to live much longer and you would think the scare itself would be enough , but addict that I am I seem to want more cigs. I am going to call my doctor and try Chantix...have any of you ever tried that?

The strangest thing, however is after a PULMONARY Specialist looked into my lungs with a scope, he sent me home with nothing. I was still sick and that night I had a spell to beat all spells...the shakes temp104 acute pain in my lungs and chest and had to go to the er where they did a simple chest xray and diagnosed me with double pneumonia! I stayed in the hospital for 5 days! (This was by my regular doctor)

Funny thing though, I am not mad at anyone anymore I am just grateful to be alive. This stuff can kill ya and especially at my age. Thank you guys for listening and I am just glad to be back amoung the land of the living.

Wow Slipper not to make you mad when you have such a forgiving heart because that is the way it should be, but how the hell did they miss that? I did the chantix one time and well what I can add to you info collecting post is that it did control the desire a lot like subs do for opiates same idea and all but....I had terrible dreams (when I could sleep at all) and night sweats. I walked around in a fog and short of breathe (never figured that out i.e. shortness in breathe). I personally think the Zyban a.k.a. Wellbuterin works just as good on the cravings) It is cheaper and safer as wellbuterin has been around for a looonnnggg time. It has been used as an anti-depressant for a long time when doctors found it to be effective in the control of many type cravings, sex, chocolate, food, cigarettes etc….. I am no physician though and of course I believe a doctor will be able to instruct you better, but you might want to ask him about the Wellbuterin vs, Chantix because the price difference is well worth the inquiry. 8)
Wishing you the best in love and life. Finallyachance.

I know a couple people who used Chantix and it worked really well for them. I'm not ready to quit yet, but when I do, I've already decided that I'll use Chantix when the time comes. Good luck and feel better.

So very Happy for you Slipper, what a Blessing you are well and so damn glad good news Great news. What a scare I'm sure. I remember your horror story the last test and such a good change due to the care you received. Not that quiting is easy but at least it is not cancer. It is ashame we know we are NOT doing any good by smoking but do it anyways.
Well I'm so Happy for you and really hope whatever you decide to take can help you quit. Good luck
