Dose no longer working?!?

What dose of Suboxone do you take? Does your buprenorphine wear off? Do you have opioid withdrawal symptoms?

Dose no longer working?!?

Post by tmae1774 » Sun Aug 30, 2020 3:51 pm

I am currently on 12 mg of Subutex daily. When doing the induction they started with Suboxone strips and I broke out into major hives. I have been doing great on my subutex and have been clean from heroin for 1.5 years now.

This brings me to my problem. Lately my cravings for heroin have gotten BAD! So bad that I am now seeing a second therapist. So bad that I have actually thought about using heroin.
I actually feel like I am withdrawing inbetween my subutex doses.
My son was recently diagnosed with bone cancer and has been in and out of hospital and has had multiple surgeries. My sons oncologist actually pulled me aside the other day and asked me if I was using heroin again because he had noticed me acting like I’m withdrawing lately.

So that is what has brought me here, searching for answers. Why am I having these problems after being on a stable dose for 1.5 years?!? Could this be because I have gained weight lately (about 20 pounds)? Should I call the doctor that writes for my medication and tell them what’s going on? I don’t know what is going on and I just want to start feeling better and get these withdrawal feelings to stop!

Has anyone else had any problems after being on a stable dose for a long period of time?
Thanks in advanced!!

I would DEFINITELY get your doctor involved in this. He's your liason in your journey to sobriety..and if you're in this level of discomfort, that's absolutely your go-to for this and the one person who can help you. Between 12mg-16mg should be around the ceiling level..but everyone's metabolism works different with stuff like Suboxone and Subutex... and you could have a faster metabolic rate than others. Please keep us updated on what happens going forward.
