WARNING. MUST READ

I take suboxone and earlier today I found my chocolate lab licking on one!!! I had no clue I had dropped it, I thought I always kept a close enough eye on the meds. I think of my dog as a family member and freaked out. I called the vet and she said due to him weighing 100 lbs. he should be fine. I have to keep a close eye on him tonight. Luckily there was most of the pill left so he didn’t ingest very much and he seems to be ok. But PLEASE keep a close eye on your meds to avoid this happening to your dogs. It just shows that we all must be very careful with this medicine we have to have at this time. I couldn’t live with myself if something had happened to him that I caused so please be very careful with your meds!!!

Thanks for posting and it's great nothing bad happened. My neighbor dropped a pill bottle full of valium and his little dog ate them up so fast. Stomach pumping, etc, almost killed him. Yep, one has to be careful.

I’m glad your pooch is okay! But, rest assured, if it was just a small piece and he only licked it he’d be okay. In fact, Bupernorphine is often used by vets to treat pain in animals because it’s one they can take. It’s been used by vets and for human cancer patients for their pain for far longer than as an addiction maintenance medication.
