Article to bring with you to the hospital

Will my baby withdraw? Is my baby addicted? Can I have an epidural on Suboxone? Will buprenorphine hurt my baby? Can I breast feed on Suboxone? What medication-assisted treatment is best?

This is an article that explains how to treat the pain of those on buprenorphine. You can put a copy of it into your file at your doctor's office and ask that it be read by all of the providers in the practice. You can hand it to an anesthesiologist, you can hand it to a surgeon.

I read this article through and Dr. J has a link to it in one of his blog posts over at the Talkzone. The name of the article is Acute Pain Management for Patients Receiving Maintenance Methadone or Buprenorphine Therapy. It was published in 2006 by the National Institute of Health.
