Re: Messed Up

You don't have to wait. A relatively new method for starting Suboxone is called microinductions. A person doesn't need to be in withdrawal when they take their first dose. Your current dose is less than we usually use for a microinduction.

Re: Likelihood of NAS

At that dose it is quite unlikely.
Many facilities are managing NAS differently now and babies being placed on tapers has really dropped.

Re: Respectful argument for 90 sub RX

Buprenorphine is a schedule III drug. No special requirements that are different from other drugs that are schedule III. It may vary depending on state but the DEA allows a month prescription and 5 refills. After 6 months of demonstrated stability and an active recovery plan I transition to seeing p...

Re: Covid-19 blues

Hi Dan, you remind me of a couple of folks I am supporting in their recovery: smart, introspective and doing well. Our hospital system's experience is similar to yours. If vaccinated; people tend to not get sick. We currently have 75 in the hospital with Covid, none of the 15 on ventilators were vac...

Re: Help! Taking suboxone having surgery!!

If you are taking Suboxone for addiction that is a bad plan. You need to find a surgical/anesthesia team that will have you stay on your Suboxone and manage post op pain with appropriate doses of full agonists, blocks and other post op pain management techniques. Unless they are going to put you on ...

Re: Advil cold and sinus

Not a problem as far as drug interactions but if due for a drug screen soon let your BUP provider know as it can give unexpected results.
If you have a history of stimulant abuse you would want to be careful.

Re: Sublocade as a means to an end

In theory yes. But Butrans is for pain only, not addiction. Having been on Suboxone the pharmacy and insurance company may balk at switching to a 'pain' diagnoisis after being treated for addiction.
I've tried it twice and we ended going back to tiny doses of the films before stepping off.

Re: Sublocade as a means to an end

Not 'The Doctor' (Dr. Who reference) but I'll take a shot. Sublocade has a long period to wash out. I am not aware of studies yet that show its utility for a taper, but conceptually it makes sense. It is still present 12 weeks after the last injection. Anecdotally I have heard of a couple people doi...

Regarding the .5 mg a day of Naltrexone; are you using a compounding pharmacy or having patients try and take just a crumb off a 50 mg tab?

Re: Suboxone and reflux

The quickest way to test your hypothesis is to switch to the monthly injection, no daily dosing or saliva issues.
Could also start lowering your dose. Your receptors have pretty much the same saturation at 8 mg a day as at 16 mg a day.

What is the 'cocktail' you are taking? Does it include clonidine and gabapentin? Both can take the edge off various withdrawal syymptoms and help with sleep. good luck!

Re: Numbness in hands

The edema in the legs is often from the Naloxone in the combination product. Ask your doctor for plain buprenorphine. If they refuse because of concerns about diversion then ask for Sublocade. Pretty hard to divert a subcutaneous injection.

Re: Dr Redding generic headaches and body aches

I have had no complaints specific to one generic film. If one has been tolerated seems like any will be. You could try increasing the time you are letting it absorb to get more buprenorphine in your system, then spit and rinse the residual to reduce the naloxone. I hope you can get back on your pref...

Re: Have you had COVID?

In my past life during the 16 years when I was in the army I received many vaccinations and shots...anthrax and small pox to name a couple.. Right before deploying to Panama we got a dose of Gamma Globulin, jump seat in a C130, then a 12 hour bus ride to our outpost. Took three days of Ibuprofen an...

I am actually planning on switching to zubsolv but in the event that they just aren't working for me and my doc has to call my normal generics in again I just wondered if it would be an issue because they're both buprenorphine just different strengths?? Ask for a weeks supply to see if they are for...

Re: Need some advice please!!!

I agree Rule but to clarify the new rules. Clinicians cannot prescribe Methadone for addiction, only pain. Methadone treatment hasn't changed. Clinicians still need to request a waiver from SAMSHA and get a X # from the DEA. They cannot prescribe for addiction without the waiver. The change is the r...
